School and community settings: an essential collaboration!
For over 35 years, CJFCB has been offering French-speaking youth extracurricular activities that let them have fun, build connections, expand their network, develop their skills, and get involved, all in French!
We are convinced that collaboration between schools and the community is essential to help youth reach their full potential in French and strengthen their sense of belonging within the community. Together, schools and CJFCB can carry their respective (and complementary) missions even further!
That's why we're pleased to offer teachers and their students a range of opportunities that build bridges between our work and yours. Discover them below!
Linguistic security resources for you and your students
Linguistic insecurity is a widespread feeling among youth growing up in a minority setting, but it often goes unnoticed, which is why it's so important to talk about it together. CJFCB has been a leader on this topic since 2019, developing expertise by and for youth, in close collaboration with researchers Suzanne Robillard and Marie-Eve Bouchard, recognized specialists in the field, as well as with teaching staff. Do you care about fostering a climate of linguistic security in your classroom? We have resources for you!

Welcoming the CJFCB in your classroom
To build bridges between our missions, CJFCB comes directly to your classroom to lead workshops. We offer:
- presentation workshops on the activities and opportunities offered by CJFCB, for CSF schools and French immersion classrooms. Contact us at information@cjfcb.com to learn more.

School trips
While most of our events are offered to youth on an individual basis, we also offer opportunities for classes!
- Camps Aventure, for Grade 8 CSF students: 2 days of activities at an outdoor camp to help your students develop leadership skills and have fun in French! Check with your school directly to learn more.
- French for the Future Vancouver Local Forum, for Grades 9 to 12 classes in Greater Vancouver, from both CSF schools and French immersion programs: a full day of activities in French (various workshops, meetings with organizations from the French-speaking community, a cultural show, and more!). BC – Québec Exchange Program, for French immersion students
Since 2018, the British Columbia Ministry of Education has entrusted CJFCB with managing the student exchange program between British Columbia and Quebec. Each year, this program allows about a dozen Grade 10 or 11 youth from the province to be paired with a student from Quebec. The exchange begins in the fall, when the Quebec student travels to B.C. to live with their partner's family for two months. It continues in the winter, when it's the B.C. student's turn to live in Quebec with their partner, also for two months.
Do you teach in a French immersion program and want to offer this unique experience to your students? The first step is yours: register your school for the program! Once registration is complete, interested Grade 9 or 10 students can apply individually to take part in the exchange the next year.
Support for individual or group projects with the Connecte program
Do you have one or more youth interested in starting a project in their school or community? The Connecte program is for them!
This program allows one or more students to bring their dream project to life, with personalized support, resources, and even financial contributions from CJFCB. It's a chance for your students to start a student club, initiate and lead school field trips, and much more! Sometimes, entire classes even carry out a project together.

Would you like to support your students through their transition to post-secondary education? CJFCB has created a comprehensive website bringing together a wealth of information to help, including:

Receiving news from CJFCB
