After several years of virtual programming, the highly anticipated classic exchange program has returned !
In its classic form, the B.C.-Quebec Exchange is a reciprocal program, which involves the pairing of students from each province to encourage language acquisition and cultural exchange. As of the 2024 Application year, the exchange period will last a total of 4 months (2 months in BC, 2 months in QC).
This exciting program allows Quebec students to stay with British Columbia families and attend school here from September to November 2025. From February to April 2026, the Quebec students and their families return the hospitality and the British Columbia students stay in their homes while attending school in Quebec. While in their host province, students are expected to speak the official language of the majority in that province and to get involved in a variety of cultural activities.
Note : Registration in the program does not guarantee participation. It is not always possible to match all participants.
HOW DO I APPLY?
Applications to participate should be made in grade nine or ten and participation will occur in grade ten or eleven respectively. In any given year, there are a limited number of placements for BC students in this program. Applications from individual students will not be considered without school involvement and support. It is important to note that the application does not ensure the participation of any one student.
For interested students, please contact a French teacher at your school to find out whether it is currently registered for the B.C.-Quebec Exchange Program. If not, please ask the teacher to email the program coordinator at echangequebec@cjfcb.com for more information.
STEPS FOR TEACHERS / INFORMATION FOR SCHOOLS
To participate in the exchange program, schools must apply by December 15, 2024.
Schools must submit student Applications, including Interview Questionnaires, by February 15, 2025.
Upon registering your school, Sponsor teachers will receive digital and printed materials to promote the Exchange Programme to their students, as well as access to the Application package.
