The Empreintes Forum took place from December 1 to 3 at the Pionniers-de-Maillardville school and brought together 40 young people from the Francophone School Board of British Columbia around the theme of intersectionality.

Participants discussed the demystification of gender stereotypes, the representation of races and ethnicities in the media as well as linguistic security in addition to (re)discovering the film Intouchables during a movie night and admiring the lights at Lafarge Lake.

The young people also worked on projects to improve inclusion in their schools and began to brainstorm about the next Empreintes event, the Anti-Racism Summit which will take place next March.

Thanks to Amé from the FrancoQueer Committee of the West, Marie-Rose Monabeka and Yannick Oho Bambe for coming to share their expertise with young people!

The Empreintes project continues to evolve according to the needs of young people. Instead of the committee, Empreintes presents itself in a new format with two annual gatherings !

The year will begin with the Empreintes forum which will allow young people to explore various social issues, learn about inclusion and how to get involved on these themes. This is also the event where a working group will be set up to organize the second gathering whose theme will be chosen by the young people.

In partnership with the Conseil scolaire francophone de la B.C., Empreintes aims to promote respect for diversity, inclusion and social justice. This project, BY and FOR young people, aims to improve the well-being of students at school, to raise awareness and make them aware of their place in various social issues.
