WHAT IS BCFYP?
The French-speaking Youth Parliament of British Columbia is a parliamentary simulation aimed at 14-25 year olds from all over British Columbia. Young people are immersed in the reality of British Columbia political life for three days.
While deputies and ministers debate social issues that directly affect Franco-Colombian youth, a team of journalists carefully monitors parliamentary discussions in order to report them to the rest of the population via the press and radio. The citizen action group tries to make itself heard by decision-makers and journalists, through demonstrations, street blockades, petitions and advertising campaigns.
All participants have the same goal: to participate in British Columbia's democratic process.
THROWBACK ON BCFYP 2025
From January 30 to February 2, 2025, the French-speaking Youth Parleament of British Colombia (BCFYP) gave 84 young people from all over the province a unique and fun immersive experience for its 27th edition!
- 64 members of Parliament debated passionately and voted to put in place a bill concerning the restriction and authorization of the use of screens by youth, and a bill concerning the optimization of river infrastructures and sustainable development in British Columbia.
- 10 activists led various campaigns and a protest in front of parliament to ensure that the public's voice was heard.
- 11 journalists covered the event and compiled it all in a magazine that will soon be printed and shared online!
This year's espionage theme created plenty of twists and turns, from a murder mystery social evening to the costume gala and the screen control bill!
