Rencontre ma francophonie

Where : Powell River and Kelowna When : October to November 2017 Who : Grades 9-10

British Columbia is a big place. French-speakers are spread out across the province’s mountains, rivers and shores. These great (though majestic) distances can lead to a sense of isolation for certain francophones who wish to connect amongst each other in order to try to live their lives in French. This is the reality of a lot of students in heterogeneous schools, that is, schools in which the francophone program exist within a larger anglophone establishment.

In order to try to remedy this problem, the Conseil Jeunesse Francophone de la Colombie-Britannique (BC’s Francophone Youth Council or CJFCB) has created a project called ‘’Rencontre ma Francophonie’’. The goal is simple : to bring together students from different heterogeneous schools in order for them to create ties. Over the course of two days, the students will experience a rich francophone experience in the form of several artistic workshops, sports and outdoors activities !
